Welcome! We invite you to explore our Training and Events page. To get started, we recommend attending a Knotty Night and registering for a Beginner/Intermediate ChickFest. You'll be assigned to a beginner group to ensure appropriate training. A preparatory meeting will cover all essential canyoning information. Don't worry about gear – we have spare technical equipment available for a nominal rental fee. You'll also gain access to the event group chat, where you can ask your Canyon Leaders questions and learn how to prepare for your canyoning adventure.
Great! Check out our E-learning page where you will see options to complete a free 101 online course. We recommend you join us for Knotty Nights (on the Training & Events Page).
Welcome! We invite you to explore our Training and Events page. To get started, we suggest attending a Knotty Night, where you can meet the group and get acquainted. Next, consider signing up for a Beginner/Intermediate ChickFest. You'll be paired with a Canyon Lead who will demonstrate current best practices. A preparatory meeting will cover all necessary information, and we offer spare technical gear for borrowing if needed. You'll have access to an event group chat to ask your Canyon Leads any questions. After gaining experience, you can choose to remain at the Intermediate level or progress to Advanced canyoneering.
The majority of our events and training sessions are exclusively for women. However, we do offer co-ed gatherings periodically. Keep an eye on our event calendar for these special "rendezvous" events where all genders are welcome to participate and enjoy the canyoneering experience together.
Gear requirements for each event will be covered in detail during the event's preparatory meeting. Check our event and training calendar for the specific date and time of your prep meeting. For general gear advice and standard canyon equipment lists, please refer to the links provided above. We aim to ensure you're fully prepared for your canyoneering adventure.
We encourage you to review the gear advice link at the top of this page before purchasing gear. While we recommend having your own shoes and clothing, there's no need to rush into purchasing technical gear. For your first training or event, we offer technical equipment you can rent for a small fee. This allows you to try out different gear ensuring you invest in equipment that best suits your needs and preferences.
As a non-profit, our primary mission is to make quality canyoning training accessible to women by reducing financial barriers. We offer free e-learning and reasonably priced online training options. For in-person events and trainings, we charge a nominal fee to cover essential costs such as insurance, permits, gear, and basic event organization. Event prices are listed on our Meetup page. We strive to keep fees minimal, typically under $100 for a full ChickFest weekend, with training courses slightly higher due to additional resources required. This represents significant value compared to for-profit canyon training companies, which often charge $400-600 for two days, plus tips.
NO! No tips necessary but please feel free to take that sentiment and turn it into a donation to help keep this momentum going and help grow future opportunities for you and other ladies.
Great. We are built on community and need your feedback and ideas to keep improving and growing our organization. Feel free to reach out to us at info@canyoningchickscoalition.org . We value your feedback.
